Morris County, NJ and surrounding areas-
It is important to keep up with the cracks that occur on the top of chimney. Most damage starts from ice and water. A routine maintenance of sealing cracks and voids can help your chimney last a lifetime. Our inspections also check for degradation to the flue lining that can lead to possible venting of combustibles into your home. To keep your chimney functioning safely, our re-lining services of the fireplace and/or boiler/furnace flues uses the highest quality stainless steel components from top to bottom.
Fireplaces
•Re-pointing and filling cracks or voids in the firebox hearth. We use modern day high temperature sealants and mortar.
•Updating for draft optimization. We work to bring fireplaces up to modern day safety code standards, in some cases this may downsize your historic wood burning fireplace and make it optimal for gas log or wood stove systems. We do not install gas log systems or wood stoves. (we recommend working with your local fireplace shop to obtain full warranties.)
•Removing old rusted throat dampers and installing new energy efficient top sealing dampers. The Lock-Top Chimney damper is like a storm door for your chimney - locking the unconditioned air outside, and keeping the expensive, conditioned air inside.
•Re-design and fireplace surround updates by special request.
Flue Linings
•We install high quality U.L. listed Stainless Steel Linings for fireplaces, furnaces or hot water heaters to help bring flues up to modern day safety standards.
•Removal of deteriorated tile linings is needed in many cases for proper drafting and venting so that the largest size new lining can fit down the flue in order to maintain the best drafting ratios possible. Special tile smashing tools are used for this difficult removal process.
•Smoke Chamber re-builds and resurfacing
We use ChamberTech 2000 for smoke chamber when installing a new lining system.
We us Smoketite ceramic formula for sealing and spraying existing smoke chambers that do not have high temperature masonry present. (The smoke chamber is one of the most important areas to keep free of cracks and voids. This is where the firebox transitions into the smaller flue liner.)
Chimneys
•Leak detection & water repellent applications. We use superior technology ChimneySaver water repellent that is 100% clear and breathable. 50 year color matching silicones are used to prevent water from entering the home through the chimney. (Roofing or flashing may need to be addressed though a roofing specialist.)
•Chimney Caps: Masonry, custom copper or stainless steel cap installation. A chimney cap is essential to the safety and proper functioning of your chimney. A well designed and fitted chimney cap will keep rain, snow, and leaves out of your chimney, and prevent birds, raccoons, and other critters from entering and nesting there. All stainless steel caps come with life time warranties and will not rust. We offer stainless steel chimney caps in several sizes for terra cotta clay tiles, chimney pipes, decorative chimney pots, and more.
•Repointing: We fill cracks and voids in masonry chimneys using mortar or advanced 50 year silicones as needed. We specialize in matching the existing masonry when doing repairs.
•Rebuilds: For masonry chimneys in very poor condition we offer tearing down and completely rebuilding from roofline up. We specialize in high roof rebuilds and have advanced scaffolding platforms that we have acquired and engineered over the years for safety.
•Pouring a new crown wash or applying a crown seal. Water and ice can create cracks and damage to the top of the chimney. Depending upon the amount of damage, we can pour a new crown wash or apply CrownSeal, a proprietary elastomeric coating that forms a flexible, waterproof membrane specifically formulated to repair and protect chimney crowns from water intrusion.
